Mission Towards Inclusion
Learning Disabilities

Some children, who in most ways appear to be normal like other children of their age & class, may have difficulty in learning and get poor marks in their subjects. They will be able to perform day to day activities, but have difficulties with regard to their academic performance. These children may have average to high IQ levels but nevertheless perform poorly. These children have a learning disability generally known as Dyslexia that is, hidden difficulty that impairs their reading, writing, math and comprehension skills. They show an obvious gap between their actual potential and their performance.

This problem can be identified way under when these children are at Ist std or IInd std. The early symptoms are often incomplete board copying, not sitting in the classroom, refusing to write in the classroom and at home, b & d reversal, writing words in the reverse like ( net as ten) adding a letter like ( bede for bed) , improper spacing between letters , not writing in the line etc. if these problems can be identified early and well planned intervention in phonetic drilling, letter sound association , spelling rules, sentence strategies along with occupational therapy will help them to come out from this problem and these children can perform very well in academics in par with their classmates.

Only because of the presence Dyslexia these children get poor marks which make others, their parents, teachers & classmates to look down on them which depletes their confidence and develop a negative self Image about themselves and manifest into behavioral problems like cheating, lying, stealing, rebelliousness, non-compliance, alcoholism, drug abuse, depression and suicidal tendencies as they grow and get into higher classes. Therefore identifying this problem at an early stage and a proper remediation will definitely help these to develop confidence and have a Good personality.

We at " Srishti" look at the children with learning problems as special children - "special" meaning differently-abled, to identify their level of academic ability, offer remedial & special coaching designed for each child to improve their reading, spelling, comprehension, writing and maths skills, so as to include them in the main stream schools after one or two years of special education. If these children were identified at a later stage of VIIIth Std or IX th std we train them to complete their Secondary and Senior Secondary Board exams through National Open School(NIOS). If handled sensitively and coached within a program that gives special attention to their individual needs, there's lot they can achieve. The school is constructed in such a way taking into account the physical and psychological needs that the ecology enhances and motivates the children’s self esteem and learning skills. It is our endeavor to provide the best in class facilities to these children to overcome their difficulties and make them competent to face the rigours of everyday life in the society, and to mould them as responsible independent children. Srishti has special units to teach these children through individualized educational program and special activities to enhance their learning potential. The overall goal is to bring about holistic development by building up the child's self-esteem, abilities and talents along with academics and prepare them to go back to normal schooling. Early Intervention Therapy

Multi mode Therapy for children from 2 years – 6 years
Multi therapy comprise of Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Multi Sensory Stimulations for Cognitive Development and Special education. The curriculum focuses on age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate activities for children to develop cognitive and social skills. This includes gross and fine motor, socialization, and communication, cognitive, perceptual and feeding skills. To accurately assess each child's progress, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is designed. Special educators and therapists review and update the plan every month.

Instrumental Enrichment Programme

This is a programme to enhance an individual’s learning, reasoning and thinking strategies. It also focuses on perceptual-motor function. IE utilises a style of teaching called mediation. Mediation means to teach information to the learner in a way that is meaningful to them, so that they understand the lesson and are able to apply it in other contexts. This also helps them to overcome their cognitive deficits.
